BEEP — Privacy policy

BEEP helps you prepare messages for trusted contacts and set safety check-ins. This release has no account, advertising, analytics, or enabled cloud-media uploads.
Information on your device
BEEP stores the contacts you add, settings, journey notes, your personal emergency message, the most recent prepared alert (which can include location and battery level), and up to 100 activity events. Contact selection uses Android's contact picker. Preferences use encrypted storage when available, with private unencrypted storage as a fallback. App preferences and recordings are excluded from Android backup.
Location and device services
With your permission, BEEP obtains approximate or precise location during an SOS session, including while its visible foreground service runs. Android and Google Play location services may process information under their own settings and policies. BEEP 3.1.1 does not send coordinates to a geocoding service or operate a location server. Coordinates and map links remain on the device until you choose to share an alert or open a map. Earlier 3.1 builds used the device geocoding provider to look up an address.
Messages you choose to share
BEEP prepares an alert; it does not send it automatically. When you open Messages or another sharing app, the message and selected recipient details are passed to that app. Sending and delivery are controlled by that service. Information you send is available to your chosen recipients and their messaging providers. Opening Maps passes the selected coordinates to the map service.
Optional audio
If you enable audio and grant microphone permission, BEEP records 30-second clips approximately every five minutes during SOS. Recordings remain in app-private storage in this release. Practice mode skips recording. Clips older than 24 hours are removed when a later SOS session starts; this is not a scheduled 24-hour deletion guarantee. Photo sharing and cloud uploads are disabled in this release.
Your controls and deletion
You may remove individual contacts, clear activity and the saved alert, stop SOS, disable audio, and revoke permissions in Android settings. To delete all BEEP data and recordings, clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall it. Data already sent to recipients or other services must be managed with those recipients or services.
Safety limitations
BEEP does not contact emergency services, monitor your safety, or verify message delivery. A missed check-in prompts you to reopen the app. Timers can be delayed by device restrictions and are not restored after reboot or force-stop.
